Loqu8 iCE

Loqu8 iCE Learn Chinese works with the broadest range of applications and websites using one or more scan modes:

• LiveScan - point to begin comprehend Chinese, one word at a time
• HighlightScan - highlight a range of Chinese text. With AutoPronounce™ and MLX Auto-translation™, you'll quickly see a simple overview of the selected text. Point to individual words to gain deeper insights
• ClipboardScan - highlight and copy Chinese text from all well-behaved applications (uses Ctrl+C to copy text). Enhanced ClipboardScan even works with highly-formatted PDF documents and vertical Chinese text

Explore with right-click menu

From any of the scan windows (LiveScan, HighlightScan, ClipboardScan), interact with Chinese text by right-clicking inside the popup window:

• Lookup words, phrases, names and idioms from the dictionary
• Breakdown shows the component meanings of compound words and phrases
• WebTranslate explains words through Google and Bing translation services
• Search web for news, images, videos and music examples from Baidu, Google, etc.
• Pronounce the word(s) in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese)
• Copy+ adds and formats word(s) as a study sheet in Microsoft Word or Excel. See sample study sheets produced with Copy+. When Rubify is disabled, the command changes to Copy and saves just the entry to the clipboard; it may be pasted into any document or other Windows application
• Copy from... copies selective details (simplified, traditional, Pinyin, Bopomofo, definition) so they can be pasted into another application
• Add to Favorites tags the entry for future reference
• Remove from Favorites clears the tag from the entry
• Word opens a dialog for your to add (or edit) entries in your personal dictionary
• Export and saves the entry to a file which can be opened with another application

Toolbar

At the top of each scan window, you'll find quick access to common functions:

• Pronounce
• Copy to clipboard
• Take screenshot
• Change settings

Two controls at the end allow you to pin the window (so it doesn't move) and close the window (Loqu8 iCE is still active).

In the top left corner, the iCE icon shows scan status:

• Red: Scan mode is enabled. By default, LiveScan and HighlightScan are on
• Gray: Scan mode is off. Temporarily pause iCE's scan mode. Turn off scanning when working with incompatible applications
• Blue: Ctrl+Scan mode is on. Hold the Ctrl key while pointing or highlighting text

Here's how to view or change scanning modes (LiveScan, HighlightScan, ClipboardScan):

• [ A ] Point to the iCE status icon to view status
• [ B ] Right-click the iCE status icon to change a scan mode. You may also make changes through Settings: Popup

Note: ClipboardScan or HighlightScan may be enabled, but both cannot be active at the same time. ClipboardScan or Ctrl+Scan may be enabled, but both cannot be active at the same time.

Status line

For your convenience, status messages also appear at the bottom of the Main window.
